Slate

I started out at Slate in September 2017 as a copy editor and have since gone on to serve many other roles at the site, including but not limited to: writing headlines and social copy for different authors’ pieces and for the homepage; running Slate’s branch of the Climate Desk partnership, through which we reprint climate journalism from participating websites like the Guardian and High Country News; occasionally editing our advice columns and curating submitted letters to said columns; and regularly reporting pieces for the site, most recently on the new e-scooters in New York City, and the R. Kelly trial.

Passion of the Weiss

Passion of the Weiss is a prominent music and culture blog, based in L.A., that focuses on promoting the work of underground and underappreciated artists. From 2016–17, I wrote a wide range of pieces for the site, including mixtape reviews, track premieres, and artist interviews. In the years since, I have still contributed on occasion, penning blurbs for year-end best-of roundups and pitching in to obituary series for artists like MF DOOM and DMX.

MyNorth Media

MyNorth Media is a company based in Traverse City that publishes Traverse Magazine and runs daily stories on its flagship website, MyNorth.com. I worked as an editorial intern for MyNorth during the summer of 2016, reporting on various events, business developments, and local news in Northern Michigan for MyNorth.com.

globalEDGE

globalEDGE is a website run by the Michigan State University Center for International Business Education and Research. The site features a daily blog that discusses the latest news pertaining to international business and the global economy. I worked for the site for four years and have contributed to the blog since then, writing posts on topics as varied as the music and visual art industries, the relationship between the United States and Cuba, and the state of the global agricultural industry.
